Trustees of Cancer Campaign in Suffolk
John is a consultant surveyor & project manager with Castons Chartered Surveyors based in Ipswich
He joined Castons from school & rose through the ranks to become senior partner, a position he held from 1995 until taking semi-retirement in 2016.
John was the project partner for the development of the Cancer Campaign in Suffolk Cancer Information Centre at Ipswich Hospital & became a Trustee of the charity soon after the completion of the project.
John is passionate about the work of the charity, particularly in educating people in prevention methods & raising awareness that Cancer is beatable. He is keen to reduce the fears surrounding the disease.
In his private life John is married to Sue. They have two sons & two granddaughters.
John is currently president of the Rotary Club of Ipswich East & the organiser of the Charity fundraising event - Orwell Walk, Run & Cycle.
John is also a governor at St Joseph College in Ipswich & is responsible for estates.
In his spare time John enjoys playing golf & is a member at Ipswich Golf Club. He is also a season ticket holder at ITFC & looks forward to the return of the glory years.

Although I am not a Suffolk boy by birth, I have lived in the county since 1969.
Qualified as a chartered accountant in 1973 with an Ipswich practice.
After working in the City in the profession, I moved into commerce & have had a number of jobs in the building, fragrance, farming & insurance industries in Suffolk & East Anglia. I spent 6 months working on secondment in Hong Kong in 1989 retiring in 2014.
Sports have always been my main leisure time activities, tennis, athletics, rugby & golf.
I was involved with & played for Woodbridge Rugby Club in it's first season 1969/70, I was Treasurer from 1973 to 1980, during the period the club purchased land & built a clubhouse. I have been a member of Woodbridge Golf Club since 1975 & I was Treasurer from 1992 to 2001 & Captain in 2003. Since retiring, I have been involved in charity driving for Suffolk Community Transport.
Jonathan Ripman Chair of Trustees
Johnathan Ripman is our Chair of Trustees and has been with the charity since it was founded in 1998. Jonathan qualified as a solicitor in 1981 & was a partner in the Suffolk law firm Gotelee, formerly Gotelee & Goldsmith for over 30 years, retiring in 2014. Whilst Jonathan was in practise he served on the Law Society Council for 8 years & was President of the Suffolk & North Essex Law Society
In retirement Jonathan remains actively involved with Seckford Foundation, PACTS (Parents Conciliation Trust), also the Suffolk Law Advice Centre.
Hobbies are supporting his ever expanding grandchildren, music, running & watching cricket.
Helen is an Account Director at Suffolk based PR & marketing agency Pier. Helen has extensive PR, media & integrated marketing experience across a range of sectors including marine, food & not for profit. Helen has worked with a number of high profile brands across the UK & Europe. Helen's expertise includes media relations, copy writing, advertising and online activity.
A keen sportswoman, Helen enjoys sailing & yoga in her spare time.
